GymAdapt: a tracker that fills in your next set
Most trackers show what you did last time. GymAdapt also shows what to do this time: the weight and reps for each set, worked out from your history. Tap to log, rest timer starts, plate calculator is one tap away, and your session sits on the lock screen.
A good tracker disappears into your workout: two taps per set, last time's numbers right there, a rest timer that starts itself. Beyond that, the apps split into pure loggers (you decide everything) and coaching trackers (the app decides some of it). Here is how the main iPhone options compare.
What makes a great lifting tracker
- Fast logging: previous weight and reps pre-filled, one tap to confirm a set.
- History you can use: last session shown on every exercise, PRs and charts.
- Gym tools: rest timer, plate calculator, supersets, warm-up sets.
- iPhone extras: Apple Health sync, Apple Watch or lock-screen controls.
- Your data: export to CSV so you are never locked in.

Pick by how you train
- You write your own program: Hevy (free) or Strong.
- You follow a known program (5/3/1, PPL, GZCL): Boostcamp.
- You want the app to plan and progress for you: GymAdapt.
- You want detailed hypertrophy recommendations: Alpha Progression Pro.
- You log from your wrist: Hevy or Strong, which have Watch apps.
What about Apple's own Workout app?
Apple's Workout app and Fitness+ track time, heart rate and calories for strength sessions, but they don't record each set's weight and reps. Use a lifting tracker for the sets and let it sync to Apple Health so your rings still close. GymAdapt, Hevy and Strong all write workouts to Health.
GymAdapt is free to start. Want Pro free for a month?
The free version gives you an AI-built plan and unlimited workouts. Code TRYFREE01 adds a full month of Pro: weights that adjust from what you log and unlimited coach chats.
Redeem the free month → Opens the App Store with the code filled in. iPhone only. After the month it's $4.99/mo unless you cancel in Settings, and the free version stays yours either way.Questions people ask
What is the best weightlifting tracker for iPhone?
Hevy is the best free tracker, Strong is the fastest simple logger, and GymAdapt is best if you want the tracker to also build your plan and pick your next weight (our app). Boostcamp is best for following a known program.
What is the best free workout tracker for iPhone?
Hevy's free tier is the most generous pure logger. GymAdapt's free tier adds an AI plan, video demos and 30 days of automatic weight progression.
Does GymAdapt work with Apple Watch?
There is no Watch app yet. GymAdapt shows your live workout on the iPhone lock screen and Dynamic Island and syncs completed workouts to Apple Health, which updates your Watch rings.
Can the iPhone Fitness app track sets and reps?
No. Apple's Workout and Fitness apps record time, heart rate and calories for strength training, not individual sets, reps and weights. A lifting tracker does that and can sync the session to Health.
Can I export my lifting data?
Yes in most good trackers. GymAdapt exports CSV and JSON, and Hevy and Strong export CSV.
