GymAdapt: a lifting plan that fits an LA Fitness floor and gets heavier as you do
Pick your goal and days, tick what your club has (racks, benches, dumbbells, cables, plate-loaded machines). GymAdapt writes the plan, shows a video for every lift, and raises the weight when you are ready. Get GymAdapt free on the App Store →
A typical LA Fitness has a large free-weight area (dumbbells, barbells, benches and several squat racks), rows of selectorized and plate-loaded machines, cables, cardio, group classes and, at many clubs, a pool, basketball and racquetball. That is everything a lifter needs. The official app is a membership tool, so the plan and the tracking are up to you. Leaving LA Fitness instead? See how to cancel an LA Fitness membership.

How to progress
- Use the rep range. Start with a weight you can lift for the bottom of the range with good form.
- Add reps, then weight. When every set hits the top of the range, go up 2.5-5 lb (1-2.5 kg) next time.
- Stop 1-2 reps short of failure on most sets.
- Run it 6-8 weeks before changing exercises.
LA Fitness tips
- Racks fill up after work. Do your squat first, or swap to the leg press on busy evenings.
- Use the pool or court as your fourth day for easy conditioning instead of more lifting.
- Log every set so you know what to beat next time. Track your LA Fitness workouts in GymAdapt →
