GymAdapt: a plan for the machines at your club
Choose your goal and days, tick the equipment your club has, and GymAdapt writes the plan. Smith machine taken? Ask the coach for a dumbbell or machine swap and it changes today's workout. Free to start; code TRYFREE01 gives a month of Pro free. Get GymAdapt free on the App Store →
Planet Fitness lists Smith machines, free weights (dumbbells and barbells), cable towers, adjustable pulleys, benches, functional stations and its 30-minute circuit. That is plenty to build muscle. What most members are missing is not equipment but a plan: what to do, in what order, and how much to lift.
What the Planet Fitness app does, and what it does not
- Does: digital Club Pass check-in, a crowd meter, free on-demand workouts, equipment tutorials (scan the QR code on a machine) and activity tracking.
- Does not: build a plan for your goal, log your sets and weights over time, or tell you when to lift heavier.

|---|---|
| Day 1 · Full body A | Smith machine squat · dumbbell bench press · cable or lat pulldown · dumbbell Romanian deadlift · plank 3 x 30-45 s |

Planet Fitness tips
- Go off-peak and check the crowd meter in the PF app before you leave.
- Have a swap ready for each move (dumbbells for the Smith machine, a machine row for cables) so a busy station never stops your workout.
- Lower weights with control. Planet Fitness asks members not to drop weights; slow lowering also builds more muscle.
- Log every set so you know what to beat next time. Track your PF workouts in GymAdapt →

What is the best workout app for Planet Fitness?
Keep the free PF app for check-in and tutorials, and use GymAdapt for your plan and weights: it builds around the equipment your club has (free tier; our app, iPhone only).
Is the Planet Fitness app free?
Yes. Planet Fitness says its app has free digital workouts and activity tracking for everyone, members or not.
Does Planet Fitness have barbells and squat racks?
Planet Fitness lists free weights (dumbbells and barbells) and Smith machines. Equipment varies by club, so check yours; the plan above works with Smith machines and dumbbells.
Can you build muscle at Planet Fitness?
Yes. Smith machines, dumbbells, cables and machines cover every major muscle. Progress comes from adding weight or reps over time.
Does the Planet Fitness app track workouts?
It tracks check-ins and activity and syncs with Apple Health. It does not log sets and weights over time; use a strength app for that.
