Fitbod review: is it worth it in 2026?

Fitbod is still one of the most polished AI workout generators on the App Store. It is also one of the most expensive. Here is what you get for the money, and who should pick something else.

Short answer

Fitbod is worth it if you want a new, auto-generated gym workout every session and do not mind paying $15.99/month or $95.99/year after a 7-day free trial. It is less worth it if you want a fixed weekly plan to repeat and progress, or a free option. GymAdapt does AI plans with adaptive weights for free to $24.99 a year (our app, iPhone only), and Hevy is the best free logger. Get GymAdapt free on the App Store →

Fitbod has been around since 2015 and pioneered the "AI picks your workout" idea. Searches for it are up sharply worldwide this year, mostly from people asking one thing: is it worth the price? We looked at the 2026 pricing, how the algorithm works and the most common complaints.

How Fitbod works

You tell Fitbod your goal, experience and equipment. Each time you open it, it builds a workout from which muscles are fresh (its "muscle recovery" model), your past performance and your goal, and suggests sets, reps and weights. You can swap exercises, change the length and log as you go.

Our verdict

Fitbod is a good app with a high price. If you value a fresh workout every day and the cost does not bother you, it is a fine choice. If you want a plan you can repeat and progress, or you do not want to pay $96 a year, start with GymAdapt's free plan or Hevy, and upgrade only if you outgrow them. Try GymAdapt free →
